Platform
A place, not a puzzle
APIScog puts cognitive tasks inside an environment people recognise. The MVP is a single airport-style scenario, built so that attention, memory and control are exercised in the course of doing something — and so that how a person did it can be recorded alongside whether they got it right.
The MVP environment
An airport-style scenario
The first environment is an airport: a security lane with a baggage belt, trays, gate signage and other travellers moving through the space. Items have to be noticed, held in mind and identified again among things that look much like them.
The demands are the ordinary demands of being in an airport, which is the point. A task that feels like a situation rather than a test asks for the same cognition the situation would — including the part where something else is happening at the same time.

What is recorded
Task performance, and how it was reached
Most cognitive tools record the answer. Because APIScog runs in a headset, it can also record the behaviour that produced it — creating a richer data layer around engagement, distraction, reorientation and response style.
A capture from the APIScog scene viewer: the tracked figure, its gaze ray, and the objects it is attending to. This is development tooling rather than a product interface — it is how the captured data is inspected, not what a user sees in the headset.
Task performance
- Accuracy
- Reaction time
- Response variability
Eye movement
- Gaze pattern
- Fixation time
- Distraction detection
Head orientation
- Head movement
- Reorientation
- Engagement
Hand / controller
- Response style
- Movement path
- Task interaction
The movement streams are exploratory candidate markers, not validated measures. The Science page sets out what that means in practice. Read the science.
Architecture
Built to take more than one environment
APIScog is designed as a modular platform rather than a single experience: multiple cognitive modules, progressive difficulty levels, controlled environmental modes and future dashboard-based reporting. The airport is the first environment, not the product.
- Future modules
- Further environments and task sets, added without rebuilding what sits beneath them
- Cognitive tasks
- The task logic, with progressive difficulty and controlled environmental modes
- Environments
- The scenes themselves — the airport first, others to follow
- Data & analytics
- Task performance and movement capture, and future dashboard-based reporting
Platform capabilities
What the platform can do
Multiple cognitive modules
Task sets that can be combined or run separately as the library grows.
Progressive difficulty
Levels that scale with the person rather than a single fixed setting.
Controlled environmental modes
The scene's demands — crowding, pace, distraction — adjusted deliberately.
Dashboard-based reporting
Planned, not yet built: a review layer over sessions and trends.
Where it can go
One architecture, several directions
The use cases below are the directions the architecture is designed to support. They are intended applications, not current products — the MVP today is one environment.
Cognitive training
The near-term product: structured training for everyday cognition.
Healthy ageing
Supporting people who want to maintain cognition as they get older.
Education
Attention and working memory in learning contexts.
Occupational performance
Roles where sustained attention and fast, accurate decisions matter.
Research
A controllable environment for studying cognition under realistic demands.
Today
What exists right now
One environment, a working task set, and capture of the streams described above. Everything else on this page is architecture and intent. APIScog is at MVP stage, and the honest description of the platform is a well-built foundation with one room finished.

The MVP is at the stage where it is best understood by trying it. Demos are arranged directly with the team.
APIScog is currently at MVP stage. It is not yet clinically validated and is not intended to diagnose or treat any condition. Future diagnostic or clinical applications would require appropriate validation and regulatory review.
